Hector Leroy “Larry” Allen, Jr. 70, of Columbus, Georgia died Thursday, May 19, 2022 at his residence with his family by his side.
Funeral services will be held 3:00 PM Saturday, May, 21, 2022 at St. Peter United Methodist Church 6507 Moon Road Columbus, Georgia 31909 with Rev. Wayne Anthony officiating. A private interment will be held in Parkhill Cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday, May 20, 2022 from 5:00 to 7:00 PM at McMullen Funeral Home and Crematory 3874 Gentian Blvd. Columbus, Georgia 31907.
Larry was born April 06, 1952 in Mobile, Alabama son of the late Hector Leroy Allen, Sr. and Leona Maples Allen. He was a U.S. Army Veteran serving in Korea and the Panama Canal. He worked for MASBACK and retired from Total Systems. From Mobile, the U.S. Army brought him to Ft. Benning, Ga. where he met his wife Betty and they raised three boys in Columbus. He enjoyed fishing, traveling with his wife, working on lawn mowers, supporting his grandchildren watching the Atlanta Braves, western movies and last but not least dirt track racing.
Other than his parents, Mr. Allen was preceded in death by his sister Carol Stevens.
Survivors include his wife Betty McGuire Allen, sons, Jay Allen, John Allen (Amy), Joey Allen (Tammy), sisters, Diann Allen, Lillian Hudman (Dewey), Sandy Ward (Mark), grandchildren, Joseph B. Allen (Summer), John Earl Allen (Katie), Cody M. Allen (Macey), Jeremy M. Allen, Kyle A. Allen, Hayley S. Allen, Jacob A. Allen, great grandchildren, Collins Allen and Millie Kate Allen and his special friends, Jeannette McCurry and Shawn Dunton.
