Maria Malave Obituary

Mrs. Maria Monsarte Malave, 86, of San German, Puerto Rico passed away on Friday, January 15, 2021 in Columbus, GA.

Graveside services will be held 2:00 PM, Tuesday, January 19th, 2021 for immediate family only at Evergreen Cemetery, with Reverend William C. Douglas officiating. Service will be live streamed @ www.mcmullenfuneralhome.com. In keeping with the efforts to stop the spread of COVID-19, face coverings and social distancing will be required during the funeral service, visitation and interment.

Mrs. Malave was born April 26th, 1934 in San German, Puerto Rico to the late Maria Ricarda Quinones and Juan Pabon. She was a military housewife being married to SFC (R), Rafael Malave for 58 years.  She was an avid gardener and had a big heart for animals of all kinds. She lived at Covenant Woods Retirement home where she loved attending church services, going to the coffee nook, and the many offered activities with her friends. She was always grateful for many friends at Covenant Woods.

Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by her deceased husband, SFC-R, Rafael M. Malave.

Survivors include 3 daughters, Nivea I. Malave, Aracelis Williams (Dr. Lawrence H. Williams) and Lina I. Malave, 2 grandchildrenJoseph N. Mongiovi (Jamie Mongiovi) and H. Taylor Williams, 1 great-grandson,Holden C. Mongiovi. There are a host of other relatives in Puerto Rico she leaves to cherish her memory.

In honor of the many dedicated employees at Covenant Woods who serve faithfully.

The family would especially like to thank Dr. Hull and Dr. Metry for their expertise, attentive care and empathy at St. Francis Hospital, MICU and for angel nurses, Megan, Haley, Steve, and Sherri who along with other great nurses, made sure we were informed and face-timed with us.  A special warm thanks to caregivers, Murl and Linda who were ALWAYS there to help whenever they were needed. Words can’t express our appreciation for their devoted care. A special thank you also to Nona Christie at Covenant Woods who made Maria feel like part of the Covenant Woods family from the day she moved in.
