Max Dean Hutson, 73, passed away from Covid-19 related complications on Feb. 2, 2021.

A visitation for family and friends will be held Saturday, February 20, 2021 from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM at McMullen Funeral Home and Crematory 3874 Gentian Blvd. Columbus, Georgia 31907. A private interment will be held in Ft. Mitchell National Cemetery. Due to ongoing COVID-19 restrictions, we encourage everyone to make the best decisions to remain safe. If anyone wishes to attend the visitation, please remember to remain 6 feet apart from those not in your household and wear personal protective equipment.  

Dean, as he was known to family, was born in Attica, IN on July 13,1947 to Ruth Lajean (nee Ping) and William Paul Hutson. He was the youngest of 4 boys born to Ruth and William. Dean spent his formative years in Attica before following his brothers into the US Army in 1966.He served multiple tours in Vietnam before returning in 1971 to Columbus, GA where he spent the remainder of his life.  He met and subsequently married Sheryll Rebecca(nee Taylor) on Feb. 3, 1971.  They had 3 children: Leigh (1972, passed during childbirth), Paul Taylor (1975) and Ryan Dean (1979).  Dean worked in the auto body industry for the majority of his life, retiring in 2015 from Helms Brothers Body Shop.  He spent his retirement years spending time with Sheryll, his children and grandchildren, along with making wood crafts that he sold at the local community market.  He lived most of his adult life in Columbus, before settling in Midland in 2009.  

Dean is predeceased by his mother, father, and 3 brothers. He is survived by his wife, Sheryll;  sons, Paul and his wife Laura of Winter Haven, FL and Ryan and his wife Leco of Midland, GA; 3 grandchildren, Matthew James, Jackson Dean and Zoe Taylor.
