Michael Luckett Obituary

Michael Luckett, a loving, funny, and faith-filled man, passed away on June 2, 2023, in Fayetteville, Georgia, due to a heart attack. Born on December 11, 1939, in London, United Kingdom, Michael touched the lives of countless people through his musical talents, dedication to his faith, and warm personality.

Funeral services will be held 12:00 PM Tuesday, June 13, 2023 in the chapel of McMullen Funeral Home and Crematory. The family will receive friends 10:00 - 12:00 prior to the service at the funeral home, 3874 Gentian Blvd. Columbus, GA 31907. Interment will be held at Riverdale Cemetery.

Michael pursued his passion for music and theology, earning both a Bachelors and Masters in Music in Theology. His love for music began at a young age, and he embarked on a remarkable journey that spanned decades and continents. In 1958, Michael enlisted in the Royal Navy as a musician, where he had the honor of playing for the Queen, HRH, and the Royal Kent. After being honorably discharged in 1961, Michael continued to play internationally, even performing with Elton John before he became famous.

Throughout his life, Michael served the Lord with dedication and enthusiasm. He was a music teacher and head of the orchestra at Christ for the Nations,he served for 5 years as a minister in the Muscogee County Jail and also held the position of head of music at the bible college Youth for the Mission in Redding St. James. Michael's involvement with Morris Cruello World Evangelists further demonstrated his unwavering commitment to his faith. Affectionately known as "the walking bible," Michael's ability to recall every verse was a testament to his devotion.

In addition to his musical pursuits and service to the Lord, Michael worked as a coach tour bus driver for several years. His friendly demeanor and engaging personality made him a well-liked tour guide, creating memorable experiences for his passengers.

Michael's interests were deeply rooted in his faith, and he found great joy in being an active member of his church community. He was a worship leader for the Senior Club at North Highland Church, and he looked forward to the Tora Class on Friday nights. Michael's love for praising the Lord and reading his bible was evident to all who knew him.

Michael is survived by his wife, Jean Luckett; daughter, Brenda Byrdie; sons, Conrad Cox and Desmond Cox; sister, Angela Cullins; godchildren, Arlyn Logan, Twila Logan, Clark Hill, and Myralee Hill; along with several grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. His family will remember him as a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, and uncle.

As we remember Michael Luckett, we celebrate the life of a man who was a beacon of love, laughter, and faith. His unwavering devotion to his family, friends, and faith will forever be remembered and cherished by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
