Mildred Louise Marshall Gignilliat

Mildred Louise Marshall Gignilliat, 99, of Columbus, GA died November 19, 2022 peacefully in her sleep at home.

Funeral services will be held 1:00 PM Saturday, November 26, 2022 in the chapel of McMullen Funeral Home with Chaplain Allison Owen officiating. The family will receive friends following the service at the funeral home, 3874 Gentian Blvd, Columbus, GA 31907

Mildred was born September 8, 1923 in Lydia, SC to the late Eldridge Alexander Marshall and Lena Davis Marshall. She graduated from Lydia High School in Lydia, SC in 1940 as the Salutatorian and in 1942 she graduated Business School. She worked for Southern Bell from 1943-1957, and she worked in the Tax Office for the Muscogee County Consolidated Government from 1973- 1989. She enjoyed cooking, gardening, reading and bowling, but her passion was faith, family and friends. “Everything she undertook she did well and being kind to others was her mission.” She was a member of Morningside Presbyterian Church.

Other than her parents she is preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Eugene Gignilliat, Jr.; her paternal grandparents, Miller Malcom Marshall, and Ada Andrews Marshall; her siblings, Veda Virginia Marshall, Mary Elizabeth Marshall, Evelyn Marshall Blackmon, and brother, Earl Alexander Marshall.

She is survived by her children, Vicki Gignilliat Breazeale of Columbus, GA, The Honorable Debbie Gignilliat Buckner (Michael H. Buckner) of Junction City, GA, Eugene “Marty” Marshall Gignilliat (Leigh V. Gignilliat) of Winder, GA; grandchildren, Thomas “Trey” Bruce Breazeale, IV (Tiffany) of Salem, AL, Kayce Eugenia Breazeale Balletine (Jerry) of Columbus, GA, Joshua Edlow Buckner (Victoria) of Junction City, GA John Gignilliat Buckner of Seattle, WA, Olivia Georganna Buckner of Atlanta, GA, Andrew Marshall Gignilliat (Allison) of Commerce, GA, Samuel Forest Gignilliat of Winder, GA; great grandchildren, Bobbi Taylor Breazeale, Caroline Ruth Breazeale, Miller Katherine Ballentine, Savannah Lee Buckner, and Jackson Harvey Buckner.

The family thanks Lynn Meharg, RN, Nicie Baker, Allison Owen and Kristen Sprayberry for all the love and kindness shown to Mildred and her family.
