(Ret) SMSGT USAF, John Madison Key, 75, of Columbus, GA died Tuesday, June 1, 2021 at Piedmont Midtown.

Funeral services with Military Honors will be held 2:00 PM Saturday, June 5, 2021 at Britt David Baptist Church with Tim Jones officiating.  The family will receive friends from 5:00-7:00 PM Friday, June 4, 2021 at McMullen Funeral Home and Crematory; 3874 Gentian Blvd. Columbus, GA 31907. A private interment will be held Monday, June 6, 2021 at Ft. Mitchell National Cemetery.

John was born February 1, 1946 in LaGrange, GA to the late John Martin Key and Catherine Key Bledsoe. John retired from the Air Force after 22 years and retired from the Muscogee County School District as the HVAC-TECH for 18 years.  He was Deacon Emeritus at Britt David and sang Gospel music at Valley Rescue Mission, nursing homes and rehabilitation centers where he was known as Achy Breaky. Other than his parents he is preceded in death by his great-grandchild Wyatt Etheridge.

He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Judy A. Key of Columbus, GA, daughter, Luci Rigsby (Larry) of Catlett, VA, son, John Martin Key (Amanda )of Smiths Station, AL, sister, Peggy Johnson (Harold) of LaGrange, GA, brothers; Jerry Key (Gina) of LaGrange, GA, Michael Key (Melanie) of LaGrange, GA, Rudy Bledsoe of Columbus, GA, aunt, Minnie Ruth Butler of LaGrange, GA, grandchildren; Jessica Nichols (Will), Cameron Rigsby, Kristina Rigsby, Lesley Smith, Justin Etheridge (Megan), Shayna Etheridge, great-grandchildren; Jackson Nichols, Emma Morrow, Anna Etheridge, numerous nieces, nephews and other family members.
