Robert "Chuck" Lowery, Jr.

Robert Charles “Chuck” Lowery, Jr. 88 of Columbus, Georgia died Friday, February 12, 2021 at St. Francis Hospital.

A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:00 AM Monday, February 15, 2021 at St. Anne Catholic Church 2000 Kay Circle, Columbus, Georgia 31907. A private interment will be held in Ft. Mitchell National Cemetery according to McMullen Funeral Home and Crematory 3874 Gentian Blvd. Columbus, Georgia.

Chuck, dad or grandpa as known to his family and friends was born December 07, 1932 in Kingston, New York son of the late Robert Charles Lowery, Sr. and Theresa Breitfeller Roach. He moved to California in his high school years, joined the U.S. Air Force, and married Arlene in 1954. He spent 38 years with Interstate Brands Corporation retiring in1998. During those years, moving all over the country, he left a child in four different states. He continued keeping his family together by having family reunions, while it grew from 2 to 51.

He enjoyed traveling with Arlene and their friends all over the world. He loved sports, a big Yankees fan in his youth, a Dodgers fan and a Braves fan at heart. He loved Norte Dame football, Georgia football (unless they played the Irish) and the Kansas City Chiefs. He was an avid golfer for most of his life. An artisan at heart, he loved to work with wood, whittling, and painting, sharing his craft with his children and grandchildren. He was an avid reader, sharing his books with family and friends. He was committed to his Catholic faith, reading his bible daily, praying faithfully for his family and friends by name, and his country. He enjoyed “driving Mrs. Arlene” around town daily. He was a friend of the Kiwanis Club, loved volunteering at Downtown Elementary School, and St. Anne’s Outreach. He will be celebrated for generations to come.

Survivors include his wife, Arlene E. Lowery of Columbus, Georgia, his children, John Lowery and his wife Sandy of Grand Rapids, MI., Karen Buss and her husband Ron of The Villages FL., Dan Lowery and his wife Sherry of Columbus, Georgia, Lynn Jacobs and her husband George of La Canada, CA.,  11 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren 2 great-great-grandchildren.
