Sharon Chatelain Obituary

Sharon Rita Benoit Chatelain, 53, of Columbus, Georgia went home to her Lord and Savior on Saturday, November 13, 2021. Funeral Services will be Friday, November 19, 2021 2:00pm in the Chapel of McMullen Funeral Home and Crematory 3874 Gentian Blvd. Columbus, GA 31907 with Pastor Bill Holmes officiating. Followed by burial at Parkhill Cemetery 4161 Macon Rd. Columbus, GA 31907. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.

Sherrie was born on January 11, 1968 in Fort Benning, Georgia to Henry W. Benoit, Jr. and Debbie R Benoit Collins. She married her Beloved, Lawrence Chatelain, on October 10, 2010. Sherrie graduated from Kendrick High School in 1986 and was a student at Christian Life School of Theology Global.

Sherrie was blessed with many talents and she used them to glorify God at every opportunity.  She started playing piano when she was 8 years old and her first piano still sits in her home today.  As a worshiper, Sherrie loved music deep in her soul.  She had led worship for many ministries near and far. Sherrie loved music so much, she would frequently make up her own songs.  Many of those songs were just plain silly, but those songs still bring laughter and joy today.  Sherrie was very artistic as well.  Have you ever watched her create graphic magic?  She could turn the letter J into a dragonfly in the blink of an eye!  Sherrie designed logos and so many other graphic artworks for so many people and businesses.  Some of those include PowerHouse, Northside Chapel, Midway Baptist Church, Sun City Chapter of the Christian Motor Cycle Association, the Harris County Chamber of Commerce, and WRBL Channel 3.

Sherrie showered her husband, Larry, with love and devotion at any chance possible.  He is her Beloved and if you spent any time with them together, you have heard her call him Beloved with such love and grace.  Larry and Sherrie have ministered together pretty much since the beginning.  Sherrie was the worship leader for her church, His Gathering House in Phenix City, Alabama. One of her favorite things to do together was minister with the Christian Motorcycle Association.  She was very active in both Sun City Chapter in El Paso, Texas and Calvary Riders in Columbus, GA.

Sherrie gave her life to Christ in 1992.  From that point on, she has served God faithfully.  The year is easy to remember because that was the year her niece, Teresa (TeriAnn) was born.  TeriAnn was like her own child.  Sherrie was her second mom and they were extremely close.  Her nephew, Holden, always made her smile by providing interesting commentary and comic relief which Sherrie loved.  She took them to church at a very early age and poured as much love as she could into them while they were growing up.

Sherrie also loved her fur babies.  She has always loved animals and it is no surprise that she has always had a dog.  Rescue dogs were her favorite breed.  Did you know she made up voices for all her dogs?  Sherrie enjoyed her doggie conversations and it made so many people laugh.

Sherrie is survived by her Beloved, Lawrence (Larry) Chatelain, her mother, Debbie Raybon Benoit Collins, her step-father, Charlie T Collins, her sister, Derri (Dee) Pitts, her sister, Pennie Benoit, her step-daughter, Courtney Chatelain (Jason Logue); her granddaughters, Calliope Cloud, Emma Logue, and Brooke Logue; her niece, Misti Wise; her nephew, Timothy Wise; her nephew, Brandon Spear (Catherine); her niece, Debbie Direnzo (Austin); her nephew, Holden Benoit;, her niece, Teresa Corkron (Tyler); her aunts, Shirley Baker and Ann Raybon;   her fur babies, Buddy, Tank, and Sassy; as well as great nieces and nephews, cousins as well as many other family and friends.  She was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, Henry and Clara Benoit; her maternal grandparents, Clyde Raybon and Mamie Spivey Raybon Carr;  her father, Henry W Benoit, Jr.; her sister, Teresa (Terri) Annette Wise; brother-in-law, Chris Pitts; uncles Bill Raybon, Bob Raybon, and Mike Carr;  and aunts, Doris (Dot) Hardeman and Nora Raybon.
