Veronica Khouri ((nee Khouri)) Limonius

Veronica Limonius (nee Khouri) was born in St. Andrew, Jamaica, West Indies, on June 28, 1930. She went home to her Lord and Savior on April 19, 2024.

She married her first love, Dudley Limonius,in 1947 and together they raised seven children: Judith (Anthony Codner), Derrick, Charmaine (Robert Stewart), Paul, Constance (Thomas Fischer), Bridgette (Tommy Colburn) and Carol. The family migrated to the USA in the 1960s. Derrick and Dudley predeceased her in 1986 and 2005, respectively.

Veronica was the eldest of three daughters to Gwendolyn and Adib, an older sister to Carmen, Constance and Najeeb, niece to Joy Smith, and a loving aunt to countless nieces and nephews.

A hard worker and a doting mother, Veronica went back to school and, in 1975,graduated from university as a registered nurse,thereby starting out on a new career. By then she had acquired two grandsons, Neil and Andrew, whom she adored. A few years later, she was blessed with two more grandchildren, Ethan and Amaia.

Veronica was multi-talented and immensely creative: an excellent cook and baker, her Lebanese dishes and mouth-watering weekend cook-out feasts were finger-licking good, and her wedding cakes were a sight to behold! She was an avid and exceptionally gifted gardener. Her daughter, Connie, used to tell friends that her mother could put a stick in the ground and get it to bloom! Veronica’s home is full of beautiful ceramic objects that she made and painted. She loved and excelled at knitting, crocheting and embroidering and she enjoyed making gifts for her caregivers. Two months before she left us, she was still crocheting items.

Veronica adored children and later in life, she was blessed with four great grandchildren: Ashley Nyelle, Mason, Alexander and Aiden.

Lovingly called “Mem-Mem” by all her grands and great-grands, Veronica was beloved by all who knew her. She lived a good, long, happy life and she will be loved and missed forever.

A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, 27 April 2024 at the Chattahoochee Valley Church in Columbus, Georgia. A service of thanksgiving for Veronica’s life will be held in New York at a date to be announced according to McMullen Funeral Home and Crematory, 3874 Gentian Blvd. Columbus, GA 31907.
