William Lee Montgomery, Jr., 83, of Columbus, GA died Friday, November 13, 2020, at Columbus Hospice.

Funeral services with Masonic Rites will be held 11:00 AM Wednesday, November 18, 2020, in the Chapel of McMullen Funeral Home and Crematory, 3874 Gentian Blvd. Columbus, GA 31907  with Rev. Robert Beckum officiating.  The family will receive friends Tuesday, November 17, 2020 from 5:00 to 7:00 PM at the funeral home. Interment with Military Honors will be held at Parkhill Cemetery. Those unable to attend the services, you may view it live Tuesday at www.mcmullenfuneralhome.com.  In keeping with the efforts to stop the spread of COVID-19, face coverings and social distancing will be required during the Visitation and funeral services.

William was born February 04, 1937 in Kansas City, Missouri to the late William Lee Montgomery Sr. and Lulu Lee Ford Montgomery. William served 4 years in the US Army, worked numerous years in the HVAC business, and then taught HVAC at Columbus Tech where he retired after 21 years.  He was a member of St. Luke United Methodist Church and was in the Discovery Sunday School Class.  He was a member of various Masonic organizations, including being Most Excellent Past Grand High Priest of GA and Past Master of Midland Masonic Lodge.  He was an active member in various clubs/organizations to include Refrigeration Service Engineers Society (RSES), Professional Association of GA Educators (PAGE), Muscogee Retired Educators Assoc (MREA), GA Retired Educators Assoc (GREA), and member of Christina Court #18 Order of the Amaranth.

He loved to hunt, fish, travel, elk hunting, baseball, and was a big Auburn Football fan.  He traveled many places throughout North America, Alaska and Australia to fish and hunt.  Many of the fish that he caught he fileted, cooked, and donated to various charities/fundraisers.  In 1972, he won the GA/AL Bass tournament.  He was a supered archer and a sharp shooter with the rifle.

He is survived by his wife of 31 years, Anna K. Montgomery, daughters, Lori Shaw (Linwood) of Columbus, GA, Rhonda Montgomery Trepanier (Jeff) of Columbus, GA, Sheryl Montgomery Lewis of Columbus, GA, Sherri Montgomery Steines (Daniel) of Columbus, GA, sisters, Judy Brehm of Kansas City, Missouri, Mary Douglas of Stover, Missouri, brother, Ted Montgomery of Gladstone, Missouri, ten grandchildren, Kayla Foster (B.J.), Caitlyn Shaw, Kendall Shaw, Cliff Lewis, Sheldon Steines, Morgan Lewis, Brian Trepanier, Landon Steines, Brent Lewis, Connor Trepanier, three great-grandchildren, Delaney Duff, Karlee Foster, Camdyn Foster, brother-in-laws, Kenneth Kuipers (Melissa) of Macon, GA, Gilbert Kuipers of Valley City, ND and his former wife Sylvia Montgomery of Columbus, Georgia.
