William Norris Obituary

William Jerry Norris, 87, of Columbus, GA died Monday, May 9, 2022 at Columbus Hospice House. In accordance with his wishes, a private family celebration of life will be held this summer near Folly Beach, South Carolina.

Jerry was born September 28, 1934 in Wrightsville, GA, to the late William Gerald and Susie Carter Norris. A retired member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) Local 779, his work as an electrician carried him to worksites across the country until he retired in 1982.

Jerry was an avid sports fan and loved the Georgia Bulldogs, the Atlanta Braves, and keeping up with the sports played by his grandchildren. Other than his parents he is preceded in death by his wife Sandra, brother Harris Preston Norris, and sister Geraldine Norris Segars.

Jerry is survived by his daughter and son-in law Melanie and Jeff Boatner, granddaughter Kayson Renee Boatner, grandson William James Boatner, his sisters Joann Norris Crosby and Charlotte Norris Boyer, nieces, nephews and friends. Charitable contributions may be given in Jerry’s memory to Columbus Hospice House.
