Willie Yarbrough Obituary

Willie “Lewis” Yarbrough, Jr., 66, of Columbus, GA died peacefully at his home on Wednesday, January 5, 2022.

Out of abundance of love and caution, and with guidance from McMullen Funeral Home and Crematory, the family has decided to host a Celebration of Life ceremony at a later date when it is safe for family and friends to gather.

Lewis was born April 2, 1955 in Columbus, GA to the late Willie Lewis Yarbrough, Sr. and Huldah Boyd Yarbrough. He recently retired from his job with United Distributors, Inc. Lewis embodied the spirit of everything wonderful, and those who were fortunate to know him will remember his big smile and his loving, warm heart. He was everyone’s go-to “Fix-it Man,” and he loved working on projects of any kind, no matter the size. His granddaughters called him “DoDaddy” because he could do anything. He enjoyed visiting the beach, he loved his family fiercely, and he lived his life fully. He is preceded in death by his sister, Charlotte Deason, brother-in-law, Ed Cooling, nephew Heath Jackson, and niece Caroline Sheffield.

He is survived by his loving wife of 46 years, Tamara Page Yarbrough; children, Lynne Yarbrough (Doug Gillett) of Macon, GA, and Tripp Yarbrough (Margaryta) of Bonaire, GA; sisters, Marcia Yarbrough Stone (Mack) of Newnan, GA, Angie Yarbrough Idel (Peter) of Phenix City, AL; granddaughters, Lainey, Emmery, Avery, and Kappa; sister-in-law, Leslie Cooling of Columbus, GA, and brother-in-law, Pete Page (Vickie) of Panama City, FL; numerous nieces and nephews, and countless friends.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions may made to Columbus Hospice at 7020 Moon Rd. Columbus, GA 31909 or The John B. Amos Cancer Center at 1831 5th Ave, Columbus, GA 31904.
